Onebox Storage Quota Set to 100 GB

To improve our services for Onebox users, we have made the following changes to the Onebox policy.

1. Based on the decision made at the MBS-3T meeting in March, a Huawei employee's storage quota in Clouddrive is changed to 100 GB and a partner employee's to 10 GB. Each user can own a maximum of 10 Team Spaces. Each Team Space's storage quota is 100 GB.

2. You can only save work-related documents, audio, and videos in Onebox. Non-work-related files cannot be saved or shared, including but not limited to music, films, and documents violating laws or regulations.

3. If your current storage usage already exceeds 100 GB, the policy change will not affect your current usage in a short time. During the transition period, please delete needless documents so that you can use Onebox normally after the change comes into effect.

4. To maximize utilization of Onebox, we will no longer save historical file versions.

5. Items in the recycle bin will be kept for 30 days and automatically deleted permanently after that.

6. You can save a maximum of 4000 files in a folder, which should be categorized in subfolders.

We recommend the following operations:

1. Back up important work files using Onebox.

2. Share public files with other users.

3. Move unnecessary files to the recycle bin.

4. Back up Outlook .pst files during off-peak hours. Do not back up the files daily.

5. Permanently delete files from the recycle bin once they are confirmed as useless.

System Integration Standards:

1. Please do not access Onebox servcie on production environment without consulting with Onebox team regarding schematic design or running joint-test on test environment in advance.

2. Non-standard products or products without responsible product team using Onebox API to develop tools, plus-ins, etc., and gain access to Onebox service, is absolutely forbidden.

Collaborative Editing Specifications

In December 2021, Onebox officially rolled out a pilot project for its WeLink Docs service. This service allows for real-time, multi-user editing of office documents online, catering to specific collaborative office scenarios. The launch of this service comes with certain limitations. This document will outline these constraints in detail to assist and guide users in utilizing the service.

1. Deployment of the WeLink Docs services

1.1. At present, the WeLink Docs services have been deployed in select data centers only. Consequently, users in various regions may notice varying page load speeds when editing documents online.

2. Restrictions on Clients

2.1. The service does not support automatic synchronization and updating of the cloud-based source document when it is opened and edited through local WPS/Office programs.

2.2. We recommend using the latest version of the Chrome browser for optimal performance, although it is also compatible with IE11 and above. However, it has been observed that some documents might display incorrectly when viewed in Internet Explorer.

3. Restrictions on File Formats

3.1. Online preview currently only supports common Office file formats, including doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, xlt, xltx, xlsm, xltm, dot, wpt, docm, dotm, pptm, dpt, ppsx, ppsm, pps, potx, potm, pdf, csv, as well as some newly added previewable file formats, including rtf, wps, txt, uot3, dps, pot, et, ett, ofd, tif, tiff, svg, psd, md, c, cpp, java, js, css, lrc, h, asm, s, asp, bat, bas, prg, cmd, xml, log, ini, inf, vsd, vsdx; other formats are not currently supported. Online editing currently only supports xls, xlsx, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xlt, xltx, xlsm, xltm, dot, wpt, docm, dotm, pptm, dpt, ppsx, ppsm, pps, potx, potm formats, other formats are not supported at the moment.

3.2. For online previews, the file size limit for common Office file is set at 300MB, while other previewable file formats are capped at 100MB. Documents intended for online editing should not exceed 200MB. It is advised not to exceed 100 participants for real-time online collaboration. Rigorous testing has shown that exceeding this number can impact the fluidity of collaboration.

3.3. Differences between the WeLink Docs and the Old Online Editing Service:

Old Online Editing Service New WeLink Docs Service
Middle Platform Service is developed based on MS Sharepoint. Service is developed based on Kingsoft Weboffice.
UI Front end UI style is consistent with MS Office. Front end UI style is consistent with WPS.
Compatibility with Local Editing Software Client Service support opening files with local Office client, and collaborative editing WORD/PPT. (Client has to be Office2013+; Opening EXCEL with local client only supports single-user editing) Service does not support opening files with local WPS client or save & sync online source files.
Compatibility with Browsers Service supports editing in browsers and save online (IE11+ is recommended, also supports Chrome/Firefox, but MS does not guarantee the compatibility with these two browsers). Service supports editing in browsers and save online (compatible with newer versions of IE/Chrome).
Compatibility with File Formats Collaborative editing API only supports docx/xlsx/pptx formats,others including doc/xls/ppt are not supported. Service supports online editing and collaboration of all mainstream Office formats (doc/docx/xls/xlsx/ppt/pptx).
Compatibility with File Sizes Collaborative editing API only supports WORD & PPT files that do not exceed 30 MB, and EXCEL files that do not exceed 20 MB. The service supports online and collaborative editing for documents up to 200MB, and online previews for documents up to 300MB. Rigorous testing has shown that the performance begins to degrade for files larger than 100MB.
Availability of Functions/Controls Editing EXCEL Files in browsers does not support usage of controls such as VBA Macros, Shape, ActiveX, etc. Some xlsx documents might be auto-modified by HUAWEI IT security software, resulting in corrupted file format and unable to edit. Service is based on browsers. Hence, it does not support usage of Macros and Controls while editing Excel files.

4. Restrictions on Concurrent Synchronization

4.1. After completing online editing, the document will require some time to synchronize and update. Please click the refresh button and only re-enter the online editor after the version or date has been updated (this applies when the historical version limit is reached);

4.2. During online or collaborative editing, avoid uploading any documents with the same name;

4.3. During online or collaborative editing, avoid downloading the document currently being edited;

4.4. It is recommended not to directly copy and paste the online editing URL to share with other users.

5. Other Restrictions

5.1. The history versions of documents edited online are managed through Onebox's version control system;

5.2. Permissions related to WeLink Docs are governed by the company's security matrix;

5.3. Avoid saving sensitive information in documents via online editing.
